5 Stress Busters during CAT Preparation

Stress is an unnecessary evil that comes along with CAT preparation. The tensed moments of study, uncertainty of result, and the pressure of doing well can’t be ignored especially in an exam like CAT. However, stress does not help in exams and handling stress during exam becomes important. Beating stress and remain calm and confident during exam becomes essential. Here are some of the stress busters that can help you while preparing for an exam like CAT.
Sleep well and take regular breaks
Never compromise on sleep. Research shows that if a person sleeps less than what they require the stress level goes up and performance comes down. Moreover, paucity of sleep can lead to low concentration level. Also it has been observed in a study that if preparation is done without taking regular breaks the retention ability wanes gradually and we tend to forget what we have studied. It is of utmost importance to understand that you need to remain fresh.
Make realistic targets and eat properly
Every student needs to understand that it is not only important to learn new topics but revise what you have already studied. Trying to squeeze in a lot of things at a time may lead to confusion. Eating salubrious items may help you stay awake for a longer time; avoid heavy meals that induce sleep and laziness. Avoid fried snacks and oily items. Go for fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, drink lots of juice or water and don’t overdo tea or coffee.
Sitting posture and keep your mind fresh
While studying, make sure you sit properly in a comfortable and ergonomically designed chair so that your spinal chord remains straight without any stress. Move your limbs at regular intervals as this will keep your mind fresh and take deep breaths to maintain the oxygen supply optimum. Moreover, you need to remember that preparing for your exam does not mean that you have to denounce this world. Hence, you can keep yourself fresh with your favourite TV shows.
Be positive and keep boredom away
Never get bogged down with peer pressure.  Remain positive during CAT preparation. How others prepare should not bother you. Stay away from self-created stress. If during preparation any subject or topic is getting on your nerves, stop dealing with it instantly. Instead take a break or start any other subject. Try to do the earlier subject or topic with a fresh mind.
Precise expectations
Self-doubt is a major distraction for B-school candidates. A great way to minimize anxiety and maximize productivity is to get an accurate picture of your strengths and vulnerabilities and map them to your performance and expectation. It is good to aim higher but that should be realistic depending on your practice tests results and other academic records. Never increase your stress level by a comparative approach with your friends and peers.
With these tactics in mind you can keep your stress at bay. Remember what you are going through, others are going through the same. So don’t get dejected so easily and feel confident instead of getting bogged down with your study for CAT preparation.
